Let's say you are working with a developer who is a senior citizen who is really getting up there in years.
They are the gatekeeper to an open source project you want to contribute to. So that way you can use their code on the back end to run one of your own personal projects too.
They speak in shorthand which makes communication with them very difficult. You have to decipher what the fuck they are talking about and referencing to. Especially in regards to their code.
Their code is full of bugs. They know how to fix it, but they would rather you chisel a square peg into a round hole yourself with aggravating workarounds. Than to push an actual update to a git repo which would take them maybe 5 minutes total.
They are historically beyond lazy. Trying to convince them that they need to do something takes maximum effort and a lot of convincing.
They are nice, a good person, and seem willing to work with you. However, all of these above mentioned hurdles will always be in your way.
