Most of these stories don't percolate to the mainstream.
All they know is the established narrative.

It's also a whole-ass book. I liked his latest book, Financial Repression, even better but that gets a bit heavy for non-monetary theory oriented folk.
I feel like telling someone to ācheck their financial privilegeā is a bit loaded and puts people in an even more defensive posture. That said, one can definitely point to bitcoin making a difference around the world, one can also point to plenty of cases of absurdist definancialization in the west. Or even better point to a story of how bitcoin helped you in some tangible ānon-speculative investmentā way.
