there's always a tension between societal expectations to become what it wants and the authentic desire of being who you are.

chasing societal validation means fitting into a predefined role—or becoming. whereas finding validation from within leads to more personal authenticity—or being.

YESS! You got it.

Becoming implies a frame of reference and some sort of inner conflict. If this reference is outside of you, it can be used to manipulate you. Being, on the other hand, is in you and in the now. There is no conflict and you are in power.

i think a lot of us struggle with this— becoming vs. being—as we work to find who we truly are. or really, who we want to be.
