2 really, first one is private channels are sometimes a bit of a pain to set up, you need to use invoice hints and some nodes just plain refuse to route anything of any decent value. Second is always check the fees of the nodes you’re looking to establish a channel with, some are significantly higher. This is my 3rd node and still learning ☺️
