The first ASIC miner (Excluding USB sticks, whole different story) was released 11 years ago. The Canaan Avalon A1 (or Avalon1).
It was released when the global hashrate was 20 TH/s (you could probably do that by overclocking an S9 today)
A year later, global hashrate skyrocketed to 10,700 TH/s
A year later, it super skyrocketed to 334,000 TH/s.
ASICs changed the game. Will anything else? (I swear to God do NOT bring up quantum)
Super conductive materials that keep heat down π€
Or some sort of liquid based hardware π€πΌπ₯π€πΌ
