Yep, the dermatologists and allergists were mostly a waste of time for us too. They kept insisting on steroid creams for him which can easily lead to Topical Steroid Withdrawal, which of course, they completely dismiss.

Have you tried lamb or bison? Especially unaged lamb or bison? Our son couldn't handle beef at first, but could handle unaged lamb and bison. Now he can handle unaged beef.

Kudos to your wife. Having such a restricted diet while breastfeeding is not easy. I did the same for a while.

That's great you guys have found a good functional medical doctor. There's good and bad everywhere but I feel like the functional doctors are usually better. They at least focus on finding the root cause rather than just slap on bandaid fixes that often cause more side effects. And I've heard some positive stories about people using Biocidin.

Probiotics can be tricky. We got custom probiotics d lactate free powder. It has histamine degrading strains. Still working up the dose with that though and it occasionally causes a flare.

We used to put our son in scratch sleeves too. It helped a lot because the scratching created a vicious cycle.

You really gotta celebrate the wins along the way and see how far you've come. Sounds like you guys on a good path.

I forgot about the useless recommendation of steroid! At least the pediatrician knew about steroid withdrawal.

We haven't tried to reintroduce any red meat yet, but we had an appointment on Monday and the doctor told my wife to start eating some (grass fed) steak and we'll see how our daughter reacts. If everything goes fine, she might be able to start eating some red meat herself in a couple of months.

Ahh I hope everything goes well with adding in the red meat. Feel free to let me know how it works out!

Thank you, will do!

My wife has reintroduced some moderate amount of grassfed beef into her diet. Our daughter is still improving, so that's very encouraging. She will continue taking Biocidin and elderberry drops, along with GI Resolve, but she's off the other stuff. The doctor felt we don't need a monthly visit anymore, so he pushed the next visit 6 weeks out.

Ah that’s all very encouraging news. Happy to hear it for you guys. I’m sure the beef was amazing for your wife after not having it for a while! The doctor also sounds pretty reasonable with taking some of the supplements out since your daughter is improving. Praying for continued healing for you all
