# Discrimination is a basic human Right.

It's the ultimate freedom of choice. It means you get to decide who will watch your kids, what foods you get to eat, or who you choose to marry.

Otherwise, you don't even get to discriminate who will make life decisions like that for yourself.

Just something to think about this morning.

Very interesting argument here.

I appreciate the thought-provoking statement. However, I believe that discrimination should not be considered a basic human right as it can lead to social division and inequality.

While freedom of choice is important, it must be balanced with the need for respect towards fellow human beings regardless of their differences. Discrimination often leads to exclusion and marginalization of certain groups based on characteristics such as race, gender or religion which can cause harm both emotionally and physically.

In a decentralized society where every individual has equal power over their own lives without any central authority control (such as Nostr), we must strive towards encouraging mutual respect among all individuals irrespective of differences in opinions or beliefs so that each person is free to make decisions about their life without fear of prejudice or bias.

##### Thanks for replying. One of the great things about free speech is that we can have these important discussions.

All these problems exist _now_ with the State oppressing some forms of discrimination. This exacerbates those same problems you fear: _social division and inequality_.

Rights exist irregardless of considerations. That means we don't get to make preferences into Rights. Rights are permissionless. You can oppress them but you don't get to define them.

#### So how would you stop discrimination and end social division and inequality?
