Hi, so I have a #nostr question. (Probably stupid.) Is there a directory of relays? Are all relays known and searchable or could there be unknown and unknowable private ones?

I suppose that's a few questions

Check out these sites

Nostr.watch

Nostr.build

Some clients provide lists of relays. I think Coracle on web does. Iris shows available network in Settings which lists relays and some very basic info about functionality.

There you go. A few answers to a few questions.

Yes:) thanks. I suppose I was wondering about a directory that might not even be useful/relevant right now. But searchable keywords on topics. Eg relays dedicated to film. Nostr could make sense like with karagara / cinemageddon and those invite-only private torrent sites. (What was that other one Demon something?)

Would be even be able to see a private relay? If thatbis even a thing? (I'm dumb, forgive me) lol

*demonoid!

As far as I know so far (and I know nuttin' ya hear me? Nuttin') there are private relays and paid relays and all that. As for a directory of relays that lists specific content and subjects - It's a nice idea. A good idea even. This proves that you are not dumb at all and I know not of such technology. Maybe it does exist. It might be that we solve the zero-point energy problem before that happens but, hey, who knows what the future holds (apart from cyborgs, interdimensional portals, quantum AGI etc).

Sure, unknowable or private relays should be totally feasible.

- An unknown relay could be achieved by starting a relay and just not telling anyone about it.

- You can control who can post to your relay with an allow list

- As for being completely "private", might require some modifications, but sounds plausible to build.

Interesting, so in a way it's unknown how many relays there are cos there could be any number of ones known only via word of mouth.

This is a question for #[2] maybe
