Woke up this morning, power went out almost immediately.

Me wishing I’d had the gas fire on all night because now I can’t turn it on. Cold af right now 😆😅

Praying for ya. That sucks

Unfortunately not that uncommon here. Can’t decide if our power provider is just crap, or if it’s just because so much of our area has much older aerial power lines.

Not that worried about it though, just hate cold mornings 😄😭

Yea man i wouldn’t be a fan either. It doesn’t wakes you up though that’s for sure.

GM 🫂 more blankets! stay warm!

I feel you Rednosestr 🔴🦌 brrr ❄️☃️🔥🚀💦

GM! Exercise will warm you up! 😆🫂

Get yourself a portable gas heater.... Stay warm under the blankets.

can't you ignite with a lighter or a wick..the gas should still work.

Do you have a gas fireplace with a switch on the wall? I ran into this before for my own home. That switch isn't wired into your electric service. It controls the "thermopile". Just flip it on, and use the fireplace as normal. https://diy.stackexchange.com/questions/37877/what-kind-of-wall-switch-is-needed-for-a-natural-gas-fireplace-to-ignite-consist#37904

Wait really?

Dude that’s awesome! Whenever I think the power might go out I’ve always turned it on and left it. Had no idea it was just a thermal switch, it totally works 😂

Thanks man!

lol, shit I just tried to zap you from my home start9 nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm connected wallet… which is down because I have no power 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

GM stay warm 🔥

Oh no! GM?

GM Guy! Had the exact same issue Saturday morning.

Hope your power is restored soon!

Just grab a lighter or a match? 🤷‍♂️

Pilot was on, but I thought the switch for the valve was electrical, found out it was a thermal switch just now. Had no idea, lol

Woohoo! Stay warm!

Might still be electrical even if not from mains - IIRC some gas burning devices use something like a Seebeck effect (inverse Peltier effect) generator to power the valve.

Gotcha i wasn't meaning there wasn't electricity involved specifically, but that it wasn't connected to the grid and breaker box, etc.

I wasn't criticizing, just an interesting-to-know thing. Sorry if it came across the wrong way.

You need a buddy heater, great thing to have when power goes out. Just uses propane.
