I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would like to do it again some day, maybe try a different path with better shoes!
What kind of shoes did you have?
I had Altra trail runners with a wide toe box and zero drop. The zero drop part was where I went wrong. I had issues with my achilles until I put in inserts. The wide toe turned out to be good. I had very few blisters and the ones I did have didn't hurt.
Yea it takes time to adjust to zero drop. I've gone fully minimalist, no support for the last 15 years but it takes time for the feet to build up. Really rocky trails (like the presidential range in NH) are the only times I wish I had more cushion and support lol
As for blisters- did you wear two pairs of socks? The friction happens between the socks and not your feet if you double up
