i'm now into my second week of no caffeine and i am finally starting to get better vision convergence for reading, after much of the last 3 years suffering with double vision while needing my eyes to work well for programming

i'd rate the current state of it at 50% of the typical average for the last few years, so i'm now almost dead certain that whatever caffeine, and especially coffee, was doing to me, is now starting to recover

idk how long it will take but if i'm at 50% improvement at 2 weeks then maybe i'll be able to see normally again soon

it's also going to be interesting to see how it affects my minimum distance for focus... when i was young, it was about 15 centimeters i could read sharp text, in fact i could read text at about 2 points (1/36th of an inch tall) such as the hidden writing in australian banknotes styled into lines. since this double vision problem started that blew out to about 40cm but if it is possible for me to focus again at 30cm i'm gonna call that a massive win, and a massive black mark on caffeine and coffee as being "good for your health"

i'm also becoming generally more productive, my motivations are not so fickle and i find it easier to sit down and plug at something when i decide to do so

i did 5months of coffee last year and It didnt do shit for me, tho I did consume mate as a replacememt so that might be the cause

i went back to coffee after 5months and accepted my addiction 😅

you didn't get the problems i have though, the constant anxiety, depression, the vision problems, the digestive upset

already most of that stuff is gone, and i don't miss it... 28 years i've been using this shit, and it's over, i'm done

GM! 🌅☕️🍳 I am 59 years old. Since I was 43 I started losing some of my vision, especially for reading. I currently use glasses only for this purpose, with about 1.5 degrees in one eye and 0.5 in the other. At the time, excessive screen use (10+ hours a day, over 10 years) was suggested as a possible cause. Today, after studying the issue a little, I think that the three main causes were sugar consumption, lack of regular exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation, and little exercise in opening the iris (alternating focus on images - near/far). I think that this can be partially or totally reversed, but it requires discipline in resuming good habits. Particularly regarding coffee, I think that potential problems only occur due to the use of sweeteners of any kind (our body temperature is enough to gradually caramelize any unprocessed glucose in arteries and veins, especially those in the eyeball and fingers) and excess caffeine resulting from large amounts consumed. In any case, I wish you a speedy recovery!

Bom dia! 🌅☕️🍳 Tenho 59 anos.
