Hmm I'm not big into podcasts tbh lol, but it does look curious 🤔 what did you take from this?

I think his advice to your idea is that it could work, but if you want to make nostr actually work, a client needs to be made that is even more open than any ui is currently running as (damus iris amethyst snort etc). When I signed the waiver for both amethyst and iris and looked at damus they all basically said I could be booted for acting a certain way. Jim's way is to define the terms such that if a user wants to block someone - they are incentivized to be sure - before posting/ blocking 🤔. He goes deeper...

Oh just to be clear the original post wasn't saying that this is a good thing lol

But it sounds like a curious podcast 🤔

Yes the idea is that the user defines their experience but the provider has a way to make money without selling data

Listening now. Never heard of this guy, he used and part-owned The Well, posted a link about and by humdog a while ago here:)

Does Jim Rutt use nostr? Probably not. But maybe he should try it¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This market of appeals sounds interesting. Not sure I'd like this in practice. These things are so complicated and beyond what I know. But having had to appeal stuff on YouTube before, even when you're completely right, these things take forever. Even massive accounts have nightmares for this, if you're a small account it's barely even worth appealing. I don't know if this monetary aspect would just make it even more complicated or speed this process up. It all just sounds like a complete nightmare for everyone involved.

I can only really speak for what I want rather than how I feel nostr should operate. Sort of beyond my scope lol. I'm just a casual non dev user lol. I'm perfectly happy with muting people I want to mute. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I suppose 4chan is something moderation-less but very popular. Sure there's more but thats the most famous. But that would fall into the 'dumpster fire' of the presenter's description.

'are there wormholes being built between these echo chambers?' is a good line from this show.

Never heard of this Jim Rutt guy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ quite an interesting podcast on the dilemma of moderation, a 'healthy market place of ideas' and a weird idea for a market on appeals....

Jim Rutt part-owned The Well.

Not sure I'd agree with a fair bit of what he is saying but it's interesting for those interested lol
