It really depends on the age and type of engine.

Old mechanical injection really isn't fussy about what fuel you put through it.

Modern electronically controlled high pressure injection systems need much higher quality fuel.

Facts. A throttle body would get gunked up rather quickly. I wonder if there is a way to modify those? 🤔

I'm assuming we're talking about diesel engines, so there's no throttle body anyway.

Fuel is injected straight into the combustion chamber, so it's only the fuel system to really worry about.
