How? For the non-tech 99%
[809418]
There won't be a non-tech 99% because they can just have their AI set up their AI.
How does the non-tech 99% install Linux? They download Ubuntu and carry on.
Don't you need hardware to run your own AI? Can't be as simple as a 200$ laptop correct? How do you have AI set up your own AI?

A 200$ laptop in 2023 can run a LLM, I imagine a 200$ laptop in 2033 could run the latest toy.
And your 2029 laptop would tell you how to set up your 2023 laptop.
With a 3090 graphics card (or two) you can run an AI that is nearly GPT4. And there are smaller cpu-only models that run great too (gpt4all). There are models that run on a phone (Doctor Dignity) and even smaller ones in the works (Tiny Llama 2). The pace is so fast the hardest thing is to build a product that isn't obsolete in a month.
Allow me to assist here. Start9 is making it easier to have your own Jarvis running on your own Server. 😎

That cannot compete with what Big Tech or Corporations could unleash to allow us to function in society.
I was rather referring to the application of AI on everything else we interact with. That is good for general knowledge chats to replace search.
Maybe i'm overthinking it

Big tech's resources might means it's always slightly ahead, but like alternative options now, they're plenty good enough.
The cultural shift taking place already towards decentralization and freedom means many more people will choose those options. The next generation might even find them the obvious choice.
Agreed. If you look at the open source LLMs that are already available, then it becomes a matter of hardware resources that can be allocated to using these tools effectively. Better hardware allows for you to run bigger and stronger models.
Of course Big Tech will be ahead because they have the resources to pump in fully, but like Matt Hill from Start9 said “They are basically our R&D department” since they pay to do all the stuff the open source community can take advantage of by knowing it’s already possible.
Big Tech might have the upper hand for now, but it is still early in the journey for open source AI agents & LLMs.
Great times ahead.
Love it 🤙🏻
