If you host a tool you use, you decrease the number of influencing factors, the problems that could make you unable to use the tool.
Some tools expose your ip when you host them. typically server platforms like start9, umbrel and MyNode dont let you install a VPN unless you do it in the Linux CLI which is not recommended and can cause the system to become unstable.
They also dont have any VPN options in the marketplace to install natively.
I will probably end up purchasing a managed switch to segregate part of my network and run nostrudel plus a free public relay on a separate machine behind it.
I would replace my router with pf sense but I have a 10GB router which i rely on for 8k video without the jitter that 1GB routers result with.
Start9 by default only expose tor addresses, or?
IP exposure depends on the service installed.
Bitcoin Core can be configured for clearnet, or Tor only, or Both.
Nostrudel has no such options and exposes real ip always (according to a response I saw a while back from the creator).
So my theoretical solution is a managed switch.

theoretically if i run my own public relay, and only connect to that with self hosted nostrudel over tor, that should solve the problem, but how would i get my relay to connect with other relays?
Self-hosted nostrudel is 100x faster than the demo instance, and ability to tweak and already powerful tool to your liking is just icing on cake.
What can I tweak on the self hosted instance that I can't on the demo instance?
