I think Trump's whole effort is to keep America's historical allies from rolling into China's arms. China is not Canada's friend, its plan is to dominate Canada in the long term.

That’s ridiculous. He’s doing the opposite. We have what the world wants and China would be happy to buy every litre of oil, every ounce of potash, and every single rare mineral we have. He’s pushing us right into the arms of every other country that wants what we have.
Well, maybe his efforts are so that due to these pressures, Trudeau's efforts to govern Canada will fail and a right-wing person will win the next election.
