You can just control your alcohol consumption and still have fun.

I prefer this method. But best to minimize it for sure.
If it works for you, you do you. I’ve just gotten tired of trying to “manage” something my body does not need for reasons I couldn’t really articulate
Not drinking at all is the healthiest choice. Haven’t gotten there myself yet. There seems to be something in our genetics that craves it.
It’s an addictive substance, no mystery, the more you consume the more your body overcompensates for its presence and the more you need to get the same high. The more you take the more the addiction grows. No one has it “under control” so much as they just haven’t had as much as others.
Everyone is different. I know that advice like this leads down a dark path for me personally, I've lived the proof, and an currently recovering from an attempt at control. We all have a different path through life.
Having more energy, free time, money, and clarity is what I consider “fun”
Yeah anybody who doesn't understand addiction just doesn't understand, that controlling your drinking/drug use just isn't possible.
Yeah, addictive substances are addictive substances. I’m happy some people have never left and will never leave the shallow end of the pool, but it’s a dangerous game either way
Congrats on 8 days brother, sobriety brought me the greatest happiness I have ever known. My wife and family, places to live, financial stability, etc. plus the inner peace and mental clarity can't be beaten. I still smoke weed but I don't consider that a drug, been sober for 3 years with minor slips here and there.
Congrats dude!
FWIW Weed scores near zero on the total harm scale. Whereas alcohol beats our heroin and crack to top the list
If you think being stupider, fatter, poorer, lazier, and sadder (even in very small doses) is fun
And no, by definition, you can’t always control your alcohol consumption. Once you cross a certain threshold, you’re not in control anymore, no matter who you are
