I’m about 90% sure that captchas are used to train computer vision models and are not there to stop bots. Therefore captchas are stolen human labor. nostr:note1zd0cwc5ay7pt0nd226dcnlht0lrw8llgjugv3vhc4re7zdtvxkasjxcj7v

Yes, google uses it to teach cars to drive themselves.

We’re basically free labor for them.

Yeah

denied the captcha a few times & was able to log in

Initially they were probably a two flies with one stroke idea. But incentives probably steered them into one side. With better visíon models, you can break more complicated captchas, so they sort of killed themselves, leaving only the human labour.

psss duh

Every key stroke we press is training the beast 😀 ... . even talking or thinking about it ..

how does that work if it supposedly has to know the answer to check?

It looks at answers from thousands of people to understand an object

Probably assigns confidence scores and then rotates with least and most confident answers to the same question to try to identify an object

Could be, in my experience it's always a traffic light or a fucking bus, and the images many times are similar, so not sure it's doing anything too advanced

That’s because they are using it to train autonomous vehicles 😆

I've known this for years. No proof, just a gut feeling but I'd bet money that I'm right and I hate gambling.

It extracts a lot more data than which images you click. How you click them, how long you take, how you move the mouse, the path you drag the puzzle piece, not just the final place, etc

I agree, traffic lights, bicycles & bridges are obvious training, but those widgets capture a lot of other human input data too
