this is from "Means of control" by Byron Tau, along with the letter metaphor

This quote is from Steve Baker (NSA General Counsel)

"Metadata absolutely tells you everything about somebodyís life. If you have enough metadata, you donít really need content."

See:

"We kill people based on metadata"

https://www.nybooks.com/daily/2014/05/10/we-kill-people-based-metadata/

Reminds me of former Australian (a five eyes country) Attorney General trying to explain what metadata is when the gov mandated telcos retain it.

He had NFI but yeah, Govs will kill you over it

I used to live in the Salt Lake Valley. I've driven near this exact facility.

You can't fully drive all the way up to it without the proper clearances, of course. At least there was a place to turn around.

The closer you get, the deader the air feels around you and your hair stands on end.

It just feels evil.

Every time I passed by on the nearest highway/freeway, same feeling. I don't know any other way to describe it.

I tried to chock it up to the incredible computing power inside and water amounts they suck out of that area to cool their servers as having something to do with it.

But...👀

nostr is full of free metadata ^^

Yes and its also quoted in the book. Just surprised that same methaphors were used about metadata as in the book.
