I imagine a grinder like a parmesean grater could be utilized to make this so.
No. I had same idea.
It doesn't grind them to the grain they need to be.
Will actually clog your clothes with soap.

Salt?
Not sure yet. Salt in recipe is probably a good thing, but probably going to have to use potassium hydroxide, instead of sodium hydroxide. Both commonly called lye.
