How long have you had the same phone number?
What would it mean for you to let go of it and get a new number or even let go have having a cell phone number all together?

Hi dave 🤟🏴☠️😉 nice to meet you 🤝
I’ve had the same number for years it’s practically part of my identity. Letting it go would feel like shedding an old skin, but maybe that’s the point. A world without a number tied to me? Now that’s real sovereignty.
It seems like a strange thing to do in this day and age. It feels like freedom in practice.
i've had the same number for 22 or 23 years. everyone i've met half of my life can contact me via that number. it's part of my identity. i wouldn't want to change it.
I think most people would feel the same. I used to feel that way. I had the same number for close to 20 years.
I have my number for ages. Tbh however my phonebook is full of people I didn't call in years. And to be more honest that's for reason.
So maybe I should let go my old number so that they don't call me in my bright future 🤔😀
It feels good to know who can reach you. I had a number for many years and it was tough to let go of. Now I feel so free. People can reach me here or on signal. And only a handful of people have my signal.
Yesterday I deleted 75 people from my contacts that I haven't called in a decade and have no need to ever talk to them again. ( Mostly old Android and Google+ friends from way back.)
About 20 years. And seriously contemplating even today that I may be ready for a new one. Especially since just this morning received two phishing scam messages. One including a real four digits of a payment card pretending it is my bank and another posing as Coinbase.
My only hesitation has been the two factor authentication that may exists on more places that I can recall and the time it would require to prepare for a switch.
I kmkw that struggle. It took me quite a while to commit to letting go. It is quite freeing though. How many of the services that use your number for authentication do you really need? If you just switched the ones you know you need, you would probably be okay, right?
I am working on it. I experienced some of the hurdle when I had put on pause my service while abroad and used an internet number and my trip ended up longer than expected. It was a real pain in whatever I ended up needing to deal with where that verification came into place but my phone was not able to receive text messages.
It was quite a process for me to get as disconnected as I am from my old world. It took many little steps. I was DEEP in it. I am grateful now but there were all a lot of pain points. It's tough in this world to be soviregn and free.
You don't have any number now or you just changed your number? I was thinking I'd just change my number but maybe I don't need to? 🤷🏻♀️
I first swtiched between a few numbers. I was actively working to disappear. I've since ditched having a sim all together. I have internet at home and there are many WiFi spots around my town. I have a music library and downloaded maps if I need them. But when I am out I have no internet. It's very freeing for me. If people want to connect I make them get signal. It's easier than would would think. It's like the old days. So free.
15 years. Losing it would be difficult because it’s linked as 2fa to some government pages. And they won’t let me switch to an authenticator app. I also lost track of these websites. I’m trying to transition everything away from my number though. This system is fucked.
So if you needed to change phone numbers the government won't want your connections? I doubt that. You could figure it out.
