What a thought provoking and provocative point. Depending on your tradition, you will take this comment in two very different ways 😅. Of course, he means this in the most genuine sense where he hopes nobody would be led astray by false teachers. From a more traditional lense, however, at face value this would seem to promote rebellion and "Sola personal Interpretationa" which would deny individuals the grace of receiving from genuine teachers. If the assumption is that Christ didn't keep his church from being prevailed against by hades, and that heresy and doctrine were subject to change and evolve progressively beyond what was handed to the apostles, then this would make sense. Everyone, would be expected to seek God through their own interpretation of the scripture, regardless of what the church has always believed and taught before papal "adjustments". Otherwise, I think the goal would be to truly seek out Christ's visible church and try to discern through all the mess which one stays true to the early church who gave us the canon of scripture we use today. I believe it's clear in scripture that Jesus intended for a visible church that hasn't changed but that produces saints, but then again, also understanding the reformed position and the idea of the "invisible church", without a mutual normative interpretational authority to govern and establish which side is right, we would loop on this hopelessly for day. Bless you brother

1 Timothy 3:15 — but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
