I swear, Google goes out of their way to make the worst possible products. Trying to manage YouTube for your kids is next to impossible. Want an ad-free Google TV? Nope, have to jump through all sorts of steps to disable that. Then the endless authentication checks … total nightmare.

There's something extra addictive about YouTube Kids, too. We eventually stopped letting our daughter watch it at all, but before that she strongly preferred YT, even when the same show was available elsewhere.
Yeah managing it is a hell, it's even not possible to do YouTube family with Google Workspace. I canceled my subscription after years. More available to zap 😊. Fire tv and sideload degoogled apps. Much better UX. additional points for putting it on a separate network with nextdns and a vpn.
I have a concept for a kids friendly video nostr client. I need to opensource that idea so not only can build it. Is has a trusted parental curated mechanism in it.
YouTube Kids is disgusting and I my moderation does not bring up decent content for my kids.
