Agreed, on both counts. Given the structure of Nostr, there should be multiple algorithms to choose from and perhaps algorithms the individual can customize.

I like the idea of every component of algos being visible like a toggle setting and then have predefined algos that can be modified where you can see how each one is set and turn individual pieces on/off
