Question, at what point does a river's slope cause it to be a waterfall vs just a river... all rivers are flowing net-down to the water basin but not all descending rivers are water falls. I need answers.

I'm drawing the line at 45 degrees. Flowing vs Falling

Or maybe the water must enter freefall to be considered a waterfall.

Certainly it can't be a requirement that the water entirely loose contact with it's terrestrial rails, that seems arbitrary.

I can get behind that number.

It's called a Rick point and it's from disturbance far further down in the river.

Rick points migrate upstream and stay as waterfalls as they travel up river.

That’s mind blowing, but makes total sense! The waterfall is a disturbance traveling upstream. Just like a traffic jam.

This is so satisfying.

Its just an abrupt drop in level.

How abrupt is abrupt enough??
