A few thoughts came to mind:
1) If they can reach around the world to harass privacy operators, why can't they reach around the world and stop the bastards who are conning old women to send them their life savings EVERY day?? which leads to
2) The US government doesn't want to prevent crime. They just want to ensure that crime is done in US dollars (as it most often is).
