Does Nostur read and/or write to both public and private mute lists?
No it has its own private mute and block list
So it doesn’t use NIP51 at all?
No, there are 2 issues why I haven't switched over yet:
- I want to make sure I have recovery in place so people don't lose their mute lists (basically same issue as with Follow lists)
- Every mute action leaks metadata
Oh, I’m aware. Maybe you’ve seen Mutable? I was inspired by Nostur to make an easy backup tool for both follows and mutes, and the app also demonstrates what can be done with public list data.
