Many if not most Zionists are psychopaths.
That is not a slur nor an exaggeration it is an accurate description.
Psychopathy is not a diagnosis, it is a term used to describe antisocial personality disorder, which means they "go against society, rules, and other behaviors that are more commonplace" have a "lack of empathy and remorse" and "inability to distinguish right from wrong" exhibit "behavior that conflicts with social norms", they "manipulate and/or hurt others" and have a "disregard for safety and responsibility". What is disconcerting is that a large fraction of Israelis exhibit almost all of the symptoms of psychopathy (ASPD).
I think this is why there is so much anti-semitism.
The existence of so much psychopathy working together as a unifed force puts us all in danger.
I'm going to stop short of suggesting what we should do about it.
I believe most PDs are moral more than mental illnesses, and that's why the current paradigm is so helpless to treat them.
I also suspect Zionism is the end result of a filtering process, and these psychopathic people are not exactly unique to Israel.
In my limited personal experience, I've never met an ex-Israeli I didn't like - they tend to be humble, hardworking and very secular. And very sure they're not going back.
I also haven't met anyone expressing interest in making Aliyah (or returning) who wasn't a narcissistic, criminally-inclined, hate-filled creep.
Repeat these population transfers for three generations and what do we get?
If the psychopaths weren't in Israel they'd be next door to us instead. Of course the Palestinians don't deserve to suffer them either, but we sure don't want them back...
I think your selection bias theory makes sense.
Humans had to evolve to be both nurturing and caring, but also cold and ruthless. We needed to be nurturing and caring of our helpless young, but cold and ruthless towards animals that we needed to kill for food. Where other people lie on that spectrum can be all over the map. On one side you have what right-wingers call "bleeding-heart liberals" who love every human and often love animals too. I admit I'm pretty close to that pole, but I kill animals for meat and with a lot of effort and reason I can get myself to see a group of people as an enemy (but with people, it is hard to not care about them). Then you get nationalist Republicans who only care about their nation. At the extreme you have religious-pseudoracial supremicists with zero concern for anyone outside of their tribe, and who even have a penchant for screwing each other over and being proud of it.
I think a good balance is being kind to anyone willing to be kind back, treat every stranger like family and they will treat you the same most of the time. If you discover that was a mistake, recategorize them into the untrustworthy camp and avoid them (without trying to make them an enemy). Play tit for tat but with random forgiveness... the game theory shows that without random forgiveness you end up in a never-ending tit-for-tat defect battle like what Israel and Palestine are doing. If either side doesnt practice forgiveness from time to time it will never work.

Random forgiveness happens all the time - people just get busy with their lives.
The underlying problem that I see is less an absence of instances of forgiveness and more that Israel and Palestine aren't just populations, they are a multi-generational hostage crisis, and a very profitable one at that.
Directly, Israel receives more US aid than all of sub-Saharan Africa.
Indirectly, Israeli elites profit from cloning allies' weapons systems (e.g. France's Mirage and USA's Patriot missile defenseman), running spy rings against allied nations, and trafficking both kinetic and information weapons to America's enemies (Eritrea most notoriously, Apartheid South Africa formerly). "We have three different sizes" of strategic weapon for sale, as Botha was offered.
Imagine if New Zealand were caught doing any of that?
If Israel were to make peace, as (former Irgun terrorist) Yitzhak Rabin wanted, they would be just another New Zealand, and many well-placed fortunes would be ruined.
How one would go about fixing this intractable nexus of problems I don't know, but fixing the money supply should help...
