#christian #prayer Here’s today’s Luther Calling daily devotion

September 4

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” — Philippians 4:13

Tavern Talk:

This verse is not about winning your football game. It’s about enduring suffering and staying faithful when everything else crumbles.

Paul didn’t write this from a throne—he wrote it from a prison. He wasn’t boasting in his willpower. He was testifying to the power of Christ that sustained him through hunger, cold, and affliction.

I too have sat in cold rooms with nothing but a blanket and a Bible. And Christ was enough. When my name was dragged through the mud, Christ held me up. When the Church seemed to crumble under lies, Christ strengthened me.

You can do all things—not because you’re strong, but because Christ is your strength. He gives what He commands. He carries you when your knees give out.

So don’t put this verse on your trophy shelf. Tattoo it on your soul. It’s not about triumphalism. It’s about survival—through Christ alone.

Luther’s Toast:

Ich vermag alles durch Christus! — I can do all things through Christ! Cheers!

Prayer:

Lord Christ, be my strength in weakness. Help me endure hardship with courage and trust—not in myself, but in You. Amen.
