Take time today. The world is like a ravenous wolf seeking your flesh, your time — your precious resources. I often find myself bewildered. God calls us to peace. “Lord your will be done” is the only prayer I can pray because I don’t have the answers. He does. I guess the only other prayer I have is: “Lord I trust in you” — I leave it at your throne. Take five minutes today. Leave the world behind. Shut it all down. Let the worries, the fears — the loose ends go. Just for five minutes and just for today — just for this very moment. Let the silence speak and replenish you. Thanks be to God.
I’m making some “clean” pizza tonight. Rye and Spelt four — a little bit of honey — yeast — a dash of sea salt and some olive oil — filtered water — Mozzarella cheese — Parmesan cheese, Canadian Bacon (not sure of ingredients oh well) and some pineapple it’s bits in natural juices. Should be good. As far a pizza goes this is much friendlier on the gut.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” — Philippians 4:13
Tavern Talk:
This verse is not about winning your football game. It’s about enduring suffering and staying faithful when everything else crumbles.
Paul didn’t write this from a throne—he wrote it from a prison. He wasn’t boasting in his willpower. He was testifying to the power of Christ that sustained him through hunger, cold, and affliction.
I too have sat in cold rooms with nothing but a blanket and a Bible. And Christ was enough. When my name was dragged through the mud, Christ held me up. When the Church seemed to crumble under lies, Christ strengthened me.
You can do all things—not because you’re strong, but because Christ is your strength. He gives what He commands. He carries you when your knees give out.
So don’t put this verse on your trophy shelf. Tattoo it on your soul. It’s not about triumphalism. It’s about survival—through Christ alone.
Luther’s Toast:
Ich vermag alles durch Christus! — I can do all things through Christ! Cheers!
Prayer:
Lord Christ, be my strength in weakness. Help me endure hardship with courage and trust—not in myself, but in You. Amen.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1
Tavern Talk:
David was a king, but he never got over being a shepherd boy. And when he wrote this psalm, he wasn’t bragging about being royal. He was boasting that the LORD was his Shepherd.
This is not a vague sentiment. It’s a declaration of dependence. The sheep does not guide. The sheep does not fight wolves. The sheep trusts the voice of its shepherd.
When I wrote hymns like A Mighty Fortress, I wanted believers to know they had a Shepherd-King who stands guard. Who feeds. Who leads. Who lays down His life.
I shall not want. That’s not because I have everything I desire, but because I have the One who knows what I need.
When fear rises and the world grows dark, remember who holds the rod and the staff. It is Christ. He goes before you. He stands behind you. He walks beside you.
You shall not want—not because you’re strong, but because your Shepherd never sleeps.
Luther’s Toast:
Der Herr ist mein Hirte, mir wird nichts mangeln! — The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want! Cheers!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Shepherd of my soul, lead me today. Let me fear no evil, want no other, and rest in Your care alone. Amen.

For me it’s that things break — sometimes all at once. God is faithful though. I ask that He will give me the strength to stay the course and NOT do things that don’t work anymore.
