Growing up in America in the eighties, I remember Perestroika and seeing Gorbachev’s hypnotizing birthmark on top of his head. That must have been subliminal messaging.

In all seriousness, we in the west were very hopeful that when the Cold War ended, the world would be a better, less divided east and west.

Globalization was simply Cold War 2.0
