I would say I‘m in the third camp. It’s hard to tell exactly when I started noticing different types of propaganda in the news because I could read/speak 4 languages very early in my life.
Fait point, the sooner you notice the conflicting messages the sooner it becomes clearer that many things don’t add up. My son is in your position (4 languages pretty much from the start) I hope it will help him be aware.
It will definitely help 💪 IMO multilingualism is a cure for many problems in the society, way beyond propaganda.

Growing up in America in the eighties, I remember Perestroika and seeing Gorbachev’s hypnotizing birthmark on top of his head. That must have been subliminal messaging.
In all seriousness, we in the west were very hopeful that when the Cold War ended, the world would be a better, less divided east and west.
Globalization was simply Cold War 2.0
About year 2011/2013 I was in my early 20's... when I start ready books from the east and reading history and biographies, probably the biggest one thus far has been Solzhenitsyn. As a Latin American I think we had a mix of east and northwest influence, legacy of the cold war. So people down here are still reaping the fruits of that. Then when I start traveling it became obvious. Culture is a great thing, agendas and control are not. Sadly generally speaking I belive we have a tendency for the latter's and we need to fight that.
Grown up in the East and now live in the West, I see the propaganda everywhere on both sides.
And yes, I'm in the 3rd camp.
This whole "China did this, ccp did that" is part of that propaganda.
I am at the ignore the noises but learning from both side camp ☺️
