Is that from “Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me”?
Discussion
Such an intense movie!!! 🫶🏻💜🫂 thank you
More lighthearted still intense. When you watch out of context
Is this what you're into?
Because this is my bread and butter. Surreal walking the line between dream and nightmare films are 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 if you need recommendations
I absolutely loved Twin Peaks and the Movie…
Another top 5 for me is Peter Greenway’s The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, Her Lover. The movements from scene to scene and color to color is my most favorite.
Ooh deep cut.
This tells me a lot about you
Have you seen the Fall by Tarsem?
Doesn’t sound familiar so I’m going to look for that one…
Or purely because you notice color. Kurasawass Ran
And the whole story behind it
The way Greenway evokes the anxieties, the passions, the ferocity and the delicate sections with color blows my mind. And I adore Tim Roth.
I have so many favorite movies it’s hard to put them into top 5, but, here they are:
True Romance (Directors Cut)
Blade Runner (Directors Cut)
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, Her Lover,
Caligula
Macow
Four Rooms
Akira
I’ll stop whatever I’m doing if any of
those are on a screen….
So you've seen Paprika you've seen Leon the professional
But have you seen what inspires Tarantino? 70s amazing yet nonsense things like lone wolf and cub?
Tarantino’s brain definitely works differently…
And there’s a few that really grab you and make you watch…like they force your mind into theirs.
I've been told by a friend that she thinks my mind and Tarantino's probably work similar because we're both encyclopedias for film
There's 6 of these
An amazing series
Gary Oldman is my favorite Actor… 🥰
Yesss
He can pull any character out of thin air…and be it effortlessly…from the pimp in true romance, to the meniacle Zorg in Fifth Element…
Side note: THATS A GREAT FUCKIN FILM!!! Milla Jovovich ties with Franka Potente for my fav female… which is The Princess and The Warrior 🫶🏻 and Run Lola Run😎
Don't get me started on fifth element
I've already turned 2 plebs onto the incall comics which was the inspiration and got set sleepy to watch heavy metal which is almost shot for shot the same movie
https://youtu.be/XL_Iq57hIB8?si=AgP5rmP-RYzBAfLY
The incall is work but one of my favorite foreign directors and magicians and drawn by a famous artist and it has an adaptation being made into a film coming up directed by taika waititi
Dang…I’ve seen Heavy Metal and didn’t make the connection…🤯🤯🤯
Ugh yes blade runner
Ok let me think up some stuff for you I'll come up with some good ones. I'm getting a you've seen a lot vibe. So I'm going to have to come up with things that are great foreign twin films to done of your favorites here.
You can tell me if I'm guessing correct or wrong on these swipes btw
City of the Lost Children both English and the French versions… another one I freaking love…and Pans Labyrinth…
I don’t mind subtitles at all.
Mhm mhm yeah well those are classics
But how are you with things like the secret in their eyes
I definitely want to watch this… this is a lazy day/shut in vibe💜💜💜
So, I’m realizing I haven’t seen many🤩 I have added all these to my list..
Kurosawa made mostly black and white films and only transitioned to color at the end of his career. If I remember correctly (there's another film before this that is in color and this is the last, but his eyesight started going as he was advanced in age. He spent something like 10 years painting watercolor storyboards for this film and used them to match the frames and such.
If true romance then...
Breathless? Tell me you've seen breathless
LA femme Nikita?
And the series…which makes me want to find The Dollhouse now too!
Love & a .45
I feel like you like directors who make things really on point.
Have you seen the hudsucker proxy?
And I’m always down for recommendations 🫶🏻 I have very eclectic taste in movies and music
