One of the things I really like about #NixOS so far is that you don't really uninstall things as much as you just comment out that line.

Is it better than gentoo?
I've never really used Gentoo, so I can't compare. Nix has quite a steep learning curve, but I bet it's easier for people that start off using flakes from the start. I originally learned using an older way and it was challenging to get everything ported over.
really like that i don't clutter my system with a bunch of different packages for each project im working on
