No. Alex Bosworth, Head of Lightning at Lightning Labs, famously runs a node with about $1M worth of liquidity.

He spends 8 hours a day managing it and it earns him around $30K per anum.

It's his job, so the $30K income is unimportant, but a 3% return from an investment and a full time job as one of the most expert proponents doesn't make it worthwhile for normies.

Companies are actually making money by selling inbound liquidity, but you need a lot of capital to do this.

The likes of ACINQ, WoS or LqWD are large corporates and possibly make money from it.

The belief is that some of the early adopters will build large companies which will eventually be profitable as BTC increases in price and lightning increases in use.
