Outside of helping the ecosystem. Is running a lightning node and adding channel liquidity a profitable way to earn some sats on the sats you already have? #ln #liquidity
Discussion
Unless you have a huge routing node, it’s definitely not a way to earn sats
No. Alex Bosworth, Head of Lightning at Lightning Labs, famously runs a node with about $1M worth of liquidity.
He spends 8 hours a day managing it and it earns him around $30K per anum.
It's his job, so the $30K income is unimportant, but a 3% return from an investment and a full time job as one of the most expert proponents doesn't make it worthwhile for normies.
Companies are actually making money by selling inbound liquidity, but you need a lot of capital to do this.
The likes of ACINQ, WoS or LqWD are large corporates and possibly make money from it.
