Interesting. So the primary reason is mainly "sovereignty ", there's not much of a financial benefit to adding a node to the network?
Yes sovereignty. You can achieve it with Phoenix for example. Instead of with LND. My Phoenix channel has been open for over a year and was never closed. I can’t say the same of my LND channels
