Do people overseas actually like Bluey or is that yet another psy-op dumped on the Australian public to make us feel like we're cultural players on the world stage?

I can't tell this is a shitpost. Have you just made Bluey up?
IT'S REAL AND EVERYONE LOVES IT. AUSTRALIAN TV IS THE ENVY OF THE WORLD.
Lol yes. I mean it's very likely I've just not encountered it and i'm not the target audience ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Whatever the hell it is lol.
I think Australian cinema tho is probably still respected. Can't think of any recent examples 🤔. Can only actually think of the most famous you'd expect, Mad Max, the latest was kinda recentish. This is going to annoy me. Bring back ozploitation and wake in fright lol
Tbh I could just make up recent Australian cinema and you'd have no clue. There was a Heartbreak High revamp slasher, and then there was a Germaine Greer romcom.
The Rover! (This one is real and recent and Australian) I quite liked that. Phew that was killing me. I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic movies regardless of quality. Wouldn't say it's up there or as well respected as say Peter Weir tho.
Little of Australian media actually makes it out of the country because it's utterly awful - or at least it was when I entered my bubble and I've heard nothing to suggest it's improved since then. Those rare things that do escape are probably decent, aside from Neighbours which I always assumed the Brits watched for some ironic reason.
We watched neighbours cos they put it on at a time which was between school ending and just before the Simpsons. The perfect time timing for children who were putting off homework. But we stayed for the comfortingly rigid moral world lol
No I think it's more than that. It is a genuine fondness actually for Neighbours, believe it or not.
How is that a bad idea?
Yeah, that makes sense - semi-captive market. Over here it was on between the news and the Simpsons. We also have laws that require the TV stations screen a certain amount of locally-produced content but I think it was the UK that was keeping the show in production.
Of course, the area in Melbourne where the fictional suburb is set has been full of Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants for a couple of decades now.
I think it's the same for most countries and their media production, even the USA (to a lesser extent?). Apparently you often get some of the crap leak through to other countries cos production and broadcasters cut deals, you can have Good x, but you have to take Bad y. So I hear.
My kid loves it and I don’t mind watching it with her which is a big plus. Most kids’ fare is absolute trash so Bluey is great in my book.
Who
Don't pretend you've never heard of it. You love it. Everyone loves it. The media wouldn't like to me about this.
I just watched a couple minutes of it, and it's actually not garbage!
You can now take vicarious pride in your national achievement. Much in the same way that people who live in New York act like they were personally responsible for its construction and culture, even if they just work at a cinnabon.
The quality is actually remarkable for an Australian product. Usually our stuff is painfully amateurish.
