No studies can be make with currwnt adoption and usage. Because as much as I like VR, there is not enough content to spend significant time playing games, not enough friends to meet in VR, it's not convenient enough to work in VR and I never tried a headset comfortable enough that I can wear it more than 1 hour without a break.

It creates a virtual image with a focal point at a safe distance just like a magnifying glass.
