Yep, it's spamming every unprotected relay on Nostr at the moment. Depending on your client, you can filter by keyword to avoid seeing the spam. Private or WoT relays are likely the way forward.

I'm under the same impression. The free riding of relays would eventually lead to this.
I will have to setup mine sometime soon and also maybe pull in from a paid relay for other feeds.
On a side note, I wonder if there are any relays which require an incredibly high PoW attached to posts 🤔
There was certainly some discussion about this. Not sure if someone already implemented it.

Out of curiosity, which relay are you using for PoW-verified notes? Nostream? Denostr? I haven't found many implementations claiming to support NIP-13 yet.
