I found this bizarre and interesting:

When sultan Mehmed II besieged Constantinople, they came to a stalemate after weeks of fighting. Both armies were at the brink of collapse, demoralized. It was anyone’s guess who would win.

On the last night, a blood moon appeared. The Christians took that as bad omen and became even more demoralized. The Muslims interpreted it as a good sign and became more energized, convinced of victory and made the last push.

This “sign” was all that was needed to overtake Constantinople and end the Roman Empire.

take everything as a good sign ?

That’s why everything is good for bitcoin 😂

All a matter of attitude.. "Can do" wins.

Attitude is 80% of the battle

Not getting your ass handed to you is the other 20%.

If you find that bizarre and interesting you should look into the fall of the aztec empire. They beloved that when the milky way moved into a certain area of the sky it would be the end of their empire.

Guess what day the spanish turned up ??? ...

Freaky...😱

Did the Spanish arrivals impact how they behaved based on this belief?

It would seem so. Their legends told of the arrival of red haired gods that foretold the end of the world. So they basically gave up.

That's the clip notes version anyway. I'll dig around and see if I can find some studies on it. Someone will have written an academic paper somewhere.

I did find this article interesting.

I find that Ancient Origin tends to have a bias though... "thing done" by brown people =good. "Same thing done" by white people=bad.

It's usually, like all history, more complicated.

I think it would end up like that eventually, blood moon or not. Ottoman was on the rise on almost every aspect at that time and what was left from Byzantine was technically only the city itself. Also Islamic Prophet put a giant target in the city almost 800 years ago. So I can’t imagine it end up very much differently at that time but I guess no way to know 🤷🏻
