I don’t know if memory serves me right, but I think the world started to derail after 9/11. I was in my teens when it happened and I wasn’t paying much attention to world events back then, but I have a feeling things were better and generally more sane in the 90s.

Yes, 9/11 kickstarted the current age of control. Measured by its long term consequences, it was one of the major psyops.

100% it was a different time.

The TSA wasn't a thing at all. Things seemed hopeful after USSR broke up.

I feel like currencies around the world are depreciating, so much so that my money isn't enough to cover my expenses. I want to buy my own boat but can't afford it—am I the only one in this situation?🤣

Class of 1971 here. 1999 was the peak of western civilization from what I’ve experienced. 9/11 was what woke me up to so many things.
