Welp everyone, it was good routing with y'all for the little time we had... Had a hardware failure and tried to restore my channels on my Umbrel. Umbrel force closed all my channels on me. FUCK Umbrel... Don't know if I'll be back, too angry to even think about it

So sorry to hear. 😔
oh no… sorry that happened…
don’t give up though~!!
when you feel ready to try again maybe choose a raspiblitz?
^_-
Please don’t give up, man. You’re the first Nodestrich. A #Nodestrich never dies!
😭💜✊
If anyone is feeling a little generous, our friend #[1] could really use some zaps tonight. ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Sorry to hear that, brother. When your node is in good working order, I'd love to have a channel with you again. We've been rocking and routing for over a year.
Sorry to hear that mate, hope you get it back up and running soon
I learned that lesson the hard way too! Sorry to hear about that. #[2] please take a not and try to fix this! Thanks! 🐶🐾🫡
*note 🐶🐾🫡🙏🏻
If you ever wanna nerd on some alternatives hmu, never want to lose one of our bruddahs
oh the channel is force closed. there is so many force closes awhile... something is happen...
Aw man!!! That’s awful… I can’t imagine how you must feel right now 😳 take some time to digest, happy to connect if you decide to come back! Plenty of great node solutions out there ⚡️
Yeah static channel backup forces closures on everything, that is a protocol level thing. Fucking sucks, happened to me too. Some sats locked for 90 days.
You'll be back.
We always come back. ⚡🧡
Umbrel is the worst piece of trash there is. Do not trust it as far as you can throw it. There are better options. Check out #[4] and their embassyOS.
Amen brother my start9 has been rock solid best thing I did was ditch umbrel.
I feel your pain!! The early days of node running is tough. I gave up on trying to route now I just use my node as a well connected ln wallet
#[4] It’s only fair that you zap #[2] something to cover his transaction fees.
Bitcoin needs you.
😢 just saw the force closed... It will be sad if we lost a noderunner with your experience
Man, sorry to hear that. Was a pleasure routing with you. Hope to see you back soon.
What options are available to recover our nodes in the event of a hardware failure? Does anyone have a backup plan they are confident in?
I run my node on a VM (ubuntu/umbrel), hosted on server grade HP hardware. I run continuous backups at the hypervisor level that fire about every 5 minutes. I send duplicate copies of the hypervisor backups to separate NAS appliances. I also regularly do manual channel backups which I store offsite. All that and I'm still not 100% comfortable that I'd be covered in the event of failure. I mean, it's all probably overkill, but it'd be very disappointing if my node went offline and there was some sort of forced channel closure.
