Very cool. Did not know that mechanism.

Between this and the gifs nostr:npub1t3ggcd843pnwcu6p4tcsesd02t5jx2aelpvusypu5hk0925nhauqjjl5g4 posted there’s no way I’m getting any sleep tonight.

😂😂😂

Do wasp and hornet stingers work similarly?

No.

Wasps or hornets can sting multiple times, don’t have to self amputate, and their stinger doesn’t have the barbs as far as I’m aware, so it’s more like a needle than a hollow harpoon

Fascinating! Is a honeybee sting more painful? Now I'm wondering if I've ever been stung by one. Looks gnarly 😬

In particular this is the honey bee, and the worker bee at that.

Bumble bees or other bee like creatures( wasps and hornets) don’t have to self amputate when they sting and can sting multiple times.

JFC!

😂😂 auch, this explains why it hurts a lot.

😳 auchhh
