It's not about TikTok. America used the Patriot Act as a way of invading the privacy of every American in the name of keeping them safe from terrorists.

The emails, calls, smses, social media communications and more of every us citizen have been intercepted and stored.

The snowden leaks showed us exactly how invasive this invasion of privacy was.

This bill is looking to make into law a version of the Patriot Act 2.0, but this time, the excuse is not terrorism, it's the Chinese.

America doesn't like competition with it's spy game so it is using this TikTok fiasco as an excuse to envade our right to privacy even more.

Allies from Australia to Taiwan and beyond are watching closely what happens and preparing to do the same.

We can not let this bill pass 🚫

💯 I’m in Australia and while the talk about TikTok bans here has so far been mostly limited to banning it on government owned devices, I do worry that if this gets passed in America then our government may try to broaden this to something similar to the RESTRICT Act.

As an American currently living in Australia, I completely agree

O mundo está perdido, governos querem controlar pessoas, a bem ou a mal..

💯. And that's why we must continue to resist, rise, and overcome these invasions to our liberty

Interesting that USA is "targeting" TikTok again, I had thought everything was hunky dory with them after they allowed US National Security agents in positions of power/censorship. I'm 100% sure though that it's not just about TikTok...

The NSA already has unfettered access to all western telecommunications providers and social media platforms, they do not require the RESTRICT Act to facilitate this.

I agree the wording of the proposed legislation needs to be updated to include provisions for individuals, but this is very much about the threat posed by China.
