How do we encourage small businesses to transact with bitcoin?

Lightning network goes a long way to seeing transactions happen almost instantly.

The experience of getting it set up needs to be frictionless as possible and also easy for them to comply with tax/etc.

Thoughts?

Wondering this myself. We have a small side business and offer 10% off on all purchases made in #bitcoin.

I also make a point of mentioning this with every transaction. Most of the time I get quirky looks, a few times I get some flavor of “I don’t have btc,” and very rarely does the offer get ignored entirely.

Since I don’t have the luxury of having drawn out conversations in these settings I rely on repetition and acceptance as a norm via constant exposure to it. I accept this will take time, but in these situations I believe it’s a viable approach.

How are other businesses approaching the issue? How can I increase my chances of promoting btc transactions or increasing awareness?

I’m looking to start offering payment in btc for my consulting work soon.

The barrier to entry currently is that the “quick start” guides out there are still geared to the more technically inclined.

A lot of people will pick it up because it’s “cool”.

There needs to be more information out there about how it benefits the regular high street shopper. Same goes for businesses.

I agree there. Buying, storing, transferring, and conducting business with bitcoin needs to be ELI5-levels of easy. It’s not there yet, but we’re seeing that ramp up faster as adoption increases.

I think what we can do is continue to keep it in front of our customers and vendors to speed up awareness and acceptance. The more people hear about it, and, especially, the more they see everyday businesses using and accepting it should help drive adoption.

Definitely, something we can do is have a webpage that is easy to access. Give the link to customers/vendors.
