The crazy thing is that the influx hasn't even slowed. It's just become so normal to have people pouring over the border, that they've gotten better at hiding it from the public and we've all gotten inured to it.
Don't really notice it, until you go shopping downtown and notice that nobody is speaking German, futily search for an apartment, or are standing in the train station and there's a group of like 10 exotic-looking dudes staring intensely at you across from a group of 10 heavily-armed cops staring intensely at them, and it's like,

i've barely spent any time in the parts of europe that have this problem, except for in Bulgaria, i was locked up with these "refugees", mostly petty criminals easily swayed by extremist jihadi islamic sects mostly sunni, from all across north africa and the middle east
in bulgaria they lock them all up, and mostly tried to ship them back to turkey, where they mostly arrived from, regardless of what EU says bulgarski chenge ne obicha chuzhdenets - back in those days i heard even once or twice border jumpers getting shot by bulgarian border police
meanwhile, on the border to serbia, i once crossed the border during the covid lockdown bullshit because the border cops in bulgaria didn't want me to come across so i circled back, went up over the hill and down into the nearest bulgarian town and only got caught as i was walking on a road the wrong way, otherwise i would have been fine, and they locked me up 24 hours and only wanted from me to show them where i breached the border exactly, and off i went
and another time, also during lockdowns, later, i crossed through ok and at the last thing the cop is asking me if i have a test or whatever and said "we have a problem" and i was like, wut? and he just waved me on, like, he didn't give a fuck actually... "officially" i was supposed to go into quarantine for 2 weeks but nobody gave a fuck, and actually anyone who did it in bulgaria was doing so voluntarily, there was no enforcement... the local shops, small places, didn't send you back outside if you didn't wear a mask, and so on
so, it's interesting for me, because the places i chose to spend those times all clearly were hostile to these invaders from the south and didn't give a fuck about the hoax either

I used to get upset about all of this and I had chronic nightmares and panic attacks, and my blood pressure would shoot up, but now I'm all doped up, so I just look at stuff and shrug.

Yeah, and everyone I knew in the city has moved out to the suburbs or the country. They keep voting the same way, tho, and they say it's not a problem if the inner city is all immigrants, as they don't live there, anymore, and you can order online or drive to the outlet mall.

even if they don't realise what's going on, they are acting on a clear mental construct that does not want to allow actual war to happen again, you have to celebrate that at least, even if the cities are gonna burn, the people who want nothing to do with it are already evacuated
