Is there any interest from anyone to build something like an e-mail marketing software client that allows for nostr users to add an email and be notified that way as well? Or perhaps an email collection widget that interfaces with nostr? Nostr-to-email.
I think the legacy world would very much like that and it would be a good way to keep people in the loop on any content they don’t want to miss.
Or tell me why this is a bad idea.
I think a bridge between the SMTP system and Nostr would be useful, but I wouldn't want to open that gate too far. Maybe an email client that could bring in MIME or IMAP into a self-hosted Nostr node? Being able to receive email to our Zap address ON Nostr would also be cool.
You can already get your email to your nip5 in snort I think
I’m more interested in being able to notify people about content without it getting lost in the noise. I know many businesses would like that.
My 2 sats is it sounds like going backwards to email chains. A in client option to flag content we don’t want to miss by Npub or keywords sounds like a better plan.
I’m not sure I understand the UX of this. How do you see it working?
No idea. Either a favorites filter you can toggle on your feed that you pre set up or another “for you” tab that pulls from your feed and universe based on your input.
More static to clarify. I love choosing my feed but someone I follow might have noted something in the middle of the night and I never see it or a discussion about “excel spreadsheets” happened that I didn’t know about and don’t want to miss. More control than a search bar

I think email is great when you're not so bought into a platform that you check it every day. Maybe nostr will displace email someday, but not for a while. Everyone checks their email, lots of people don't check their social media.

I like the idea. Especially if we use some AI to summarize and firmat the content. A personalized newsletter. It’s been on my wishlist for a long time.
