In the latest Elements release, we add initial support for discounted Confidential Transactions (CT) fees. This new policy reduces fees by nearly 90%, from around 250 sats to 25 sats, achieving close to what it would be on non-CT transactions.

The 23.2.3 release activates the new fee policy for relay on Liquid testnet. This allows Liquid wallets and platforms to begin integration and testing, with a production release expected in the near future.

The new fee policy will make Liquid’s confidentiality even more economical, particularly when stacking bitcoin in high-fee environments, swapping to Lightning, or sending cross-border stablecoin remittances.

I've been seeing these discounted fees in Aqua (thank you!), but not yet in Green. Can anyone explain why? Are Aqua transactions still confidential?

Should you be mindful about coin control on Liquid? I only know the amounts and assets are confidential. I've never seen chain analysis on Liquid transactions.

Personally, I practice coin control on the main chain, but with confidential amounts and assets on liquid, I'm comfortable just letting the wallet software handle it. Just my 2 sats 😉

Federation update: After merging 'Discounted Fees for Confidential Transactions' (ELIP200) in the latest Elements release last week, the new fee policy has been activated on Liquid testnet to assist with QA and future iterations.
