also, it seems to me that portuguese people are quite comfortable with and prefer to be able to just blurt things out as they think of them. it's one of the first things you notice about the people here on this island, they basically have a slightly tense disagreement and they are shouting at each other like it's really serious, but it almost never is. probably this is a portuguese cultural thing, and i wouldn't be surprised if brazillians are also prone to speaking their mind very forthrightly, which means that they would be chafing more than maybe other cultures at the censorship that really went wild in the covid days.
